His Essence is part of the Created series which is an exploration of the complimentary nature of male and female throughout creation.   

When I made this piece, I was thinking about the moment that a new life comes in to being. What will that person become? How much of that is determined at the very moment of conception and as cells begin to multiply? “His Substance” is an expression of my perception of masculinity or manhood. As an artist, I draw inspiration from what I experience.  This piece is inspired by the complexities of the man that I know best of all.  It represents his substance as being his character and inner strength and how he might tend to put up defences to protect the hidden layers of emotion and passion and heart that are the essence of him.
