Imagining hidden geological landscapes allows me to make sense of the sometimes loud and chaotic world within. By referencing forms and unseen forces—exposing them as though they've suddenly emerged from deep within the earth—I aim to connect the internal with the eternal. Much like the geological layers of the earth, which carry the imprints of time, pressure, and cosmic forces, my work delves into the unseen dimensions of the human spirit. The process becomes a kind of excavation of the soul, a way to reveal what is often buried deep within, and to make room for spiritual growth, renewal, and understanding.
Oil and acrylic on canvas, framed in a solid ash frame.
40 × 40cm
He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness……
I am interested in parallels between the physical and the spiritual, the seen and the unseen.
Finished with gloss varnish to bring depth to the colours.
50 x 70cm, Acrylic on canvas in white tray frame
Exploring the idea that the non-physical world can be sensed through the physical under certain conditions, I imagine the moment that, from a state of darkness, the physical is suddenly illuminated. I wonder whether, at this precise point in time, an opening to an unseen realm is somehow created - a spiritual experience, if you will.
Interested in the interrelatedness of the spiritual and the physical, I often draw parallels between physical landscape and our inner world. I explore the ways in which that which can be observed can give clues to the vast expanse that lies beneath, out of sight.

Paintings on Mineral Paper
54 × 39cm, acrylic paint on mineral paper.
The Crystalline Landsacpe series is created on mineral paper. I have been exploring different substrates for painting and working with fluid paint mediums. Using the flow of pigment in fluid on a two-dimensional surface to illustrate the transfer of contaminants via ground water, which can travel to great depths within the bodies of rock that make up the earth beneath our feet. While the flow of one colour into another where different “bodies” of water meet creates beautiful forms on the paper, it also serves to illustrate just how far and deep contaminants can be carried via groundwater flows, from our activities on the surface of the earth.
This artwork is framed in a white frame with white mat and will only be shipped to a New Zealand address

Acrylic paint on Mineral Paper
Original painting is UNFRAMED and will be shipped rolled, in a robust shipping tube.
I have been experimenting with paint pigments flowed in water on various substrates - silk, recycled plastic, felt and, in this instance, mineral paper. The behaviour of the paint as it is subjected to surface tension and capillarity fascinates me and as I seek to harness these forces, my mind inevitably travels to the geological implications. What does it mean for the waters that we are tasked with caring for, when we introduce contaminants into their systems? Then I consider the implications for my inner world. What do I allow to contaminate body and soul and how far does the flow reach? We are all interconnected, woven together.
